Disease Surveillance

List of Communicable Diseases to be notified under the Communicable Disease Prevention & Control Act,1988 (Akta Pencegahan dan Pengawalan Penyakit Berjangkit, 1988) by Ministry of Heath. 

Jadual Pertama (Seksyen 2) Akta 342 – Pencegahan dan Pengawalan Penyakit Berjangkit 1988: 

Bahagian I:

1.      Batuk Kokol

2.      Campak

3.      Chancroid

4.      Demam Denggi dan Demam Denggi Berdarah

5.      Demam Kuning

6.      Difteria

7.      Disenteri (Semua jenis)

8.      Ebola

9.      Jangkitan Gonococcal (Semua jenis)

10.  Keracunan Makanan

11.  Kolera

12.  Kusta

13.  Malaria

14.  Myocarditis

15.  Plague

16.  Poliomielitis (Akut)

17.  Rabies

18.  Relapsing Fever

19.  Sifilis (Semua jenis)

20.  Tetanus (Semua jenis)

21.  Tifoid dan Salmonelloses lain

22.  Tifus dan Ricketsioses lain

23.  Tuberkulosis (Semua jenis)

24.  Viral Ensefalitis

25.  Viral Hepatitis

26.  Apa-apa jangkitan mikrobial lain yang mengancam nyawa

Notification Duration

Besides diagnosing a disease accurately and treating the case immediately, quickness in reporting the incidence of a disease to the authority is also an important aspect in control of communicable disease. Also, this helps to prevent further spread of the disease and identify other similar cases within the community.

For that purpose, several communicable disease in the list of Jadual Pertama (Seksyen 2) Akta Pencegahan dan Pengawalan Penyakit Berjangkit 1988 has to be notified to the District Health Office within 24hours via telephone from the date the disease was diagnosed, in accordance to the rules of Communicable Disease Control.

Communicable diseases that are to be notified by telephone to the nearest District Health Office, followed by written notification within 24hours are as following:

1.      Demam Denggi dan Demam Denggi Berdarah

2.      Demam Kuning

3.      Difteria

4.      Ebola

5.      Keracunana Makanan

6.      Kolera

7.      Plague

8.      Poliomielitis (Akut)

9.      Rabies

           

The other communicable diseases listed in Jadual Pertama Akta Pencegahan dan Pengawalan Penyakit Berjangkit 1988 are to be notified by written notification to the nearest District Health Office within 1 week from the day diagnosis was made.
